All four reach the same record. Pick whichever you will
actually do.
In the room
Council Chambers, 500 Castro St., second floor
Fill out a blue speaker card with your name and the agenda item
number, and hand it to the City Clerk before that item is called. You get
three minutes.
On Zoom
Raise your hand when your item is called
Join the meeting webinar and use Raise Hand. The Mayor calls on
raised hands in order.
The webinar link and ID are printed at the top of every
agenda. They have been stable through 2026, but they are per-meeting values
— take them from the agenda you are attending, not from memory.
By phone
(669) 900-9128
Dial in, enter the webinar ID from the agenda, then press *9 to
raise your hand and *6 to unmute when you are called.
Send it by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting and put the
agenda item number in the subject line. Written comment becomes part of the
public record and is distributed to all seven members.
Act now — comment deadlines
To weigh in: hand a blue speaker card to the City Clerk, raise your hand on Zoom or press *9 by phone, or email city.council@mountainview.gov by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Comment by Friday, October 9 for City Council, Saturday, October 10, 8:00 AM.
Comment by Sunday, October 11 for Youth Advisory Committee, Monday, October 12, 4:30 PM.
Comment by Monday, October 12 for City Council, Tuesday, October 13, 6:30 PM.
Comment by Tuesday, October 13 for Administrative Zoning Hearing, Wednesday, October 14, 4:00 PM.
Three minutes is the standard. The Mayor may cut it to as little
as 90 seconds when many people have signed up — so lead with your
ask, not your background.
Speaking for a group? A representative for five or more people
may request up to ten minutes, with advance notice to the Mayor or the
City Clerk.
Not on the agenda? There is an open-forum slot for items within the
city’s jurisdiction. The Council cannot legally deliberate or vote on
something that was not agendised, so expect to be heard, not answered.
Language access. Ask the City Clerk by 5 p.m. two business
days ahead for Spanish or Chinese interpretation:
(650) 903-6304. Translated meeting materials:
(650) 903-6608. The city has also been piloting live AI captioning and
translation during meetings.
What actually moves a vote
Comment that names the agenda item, states a position in the first
sentence, and gives one concrete local fact tends to land. Comment that
arrives after the item is called does not. If you can only do one thing, email
before 4:30 p.m. — it is on the record whether or not you make it to
the room.
